Nghiên cứu thực trạng việc áp dụng chứng chỉ rừng FSC và quản lý rừng bền vững tại huyện A Lưới, tỉnh Thừa Thiên Huế

Abstract

With the aim of assessing the current situation of applying FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification and sustainable forest management in A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province, the study has conducted methods of collecting data, documents, and interviewing relevant parties about the participation in forest certification of associations in the district. The research results show that although A Luoi has a large area of ​​productive forests (42,768.87 ha), the area of ​​certified planted forests is still relatively low, at 0.01%. During the period from 2014 to 2022, the total area participating in forest certification in A Luoi was 464.6 ha, with a scale of 179 forest lots of 124 member households participating. The economic value of certified forest planting will be higher when the exploitation time is extended to 7 - 10 years. Over 97% of households will continue to participate in linking groups to plant FSC certified forests and are willing to contribute more land and investment. In addition, the study also proposes 6 solutions to promote the participation in forest certification and sustainable forest management of households in A Luoi district.
