Abstract
Land clearance has contributed to infrastructure development and investment attraction in Pho Yen City, Thai Nguyen Province; however, it has also affected the lives of those whose land has been expropriated. To contribute to improving this work, a study was conducted with the goal of assessing the impact of this work on the lives, employment, and livelihoods of people whose land has been expropriated. The research method used was primarily a survey of 200 households whose land had been expropriated. The research results showed that land clearance strongly affects the employment and income of people after land expropriation: the level of employment stability reached 99.71% in public investment projects and 101.68% in private investment projects; income reached 98.79% in public investment projects and 100.76% in private investment projects. The rate of resettlement due to land expropriation was quite high, ranging from 58.90% to 97.66%. Land clearance has had a positive impact on local infrastructure such as electricity, roads, water, the environment, and public security.
