Abstract

The experiment was carried out at pig farms in Thuy Van, Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province to determine the therapeutic effect of herbal extracts (CP4 and CP5) compared to antibiotics (doxycycline) on respiratory syndrome of weaned piglets. A total of 150 infected respiratory syndrome weaned piglets weighing 11,92 kg were randomly divided into three treatments (KS, CP4 and CP5) with 10 replicates. Pigs oranly treated by one of three categories: doxycyline, CP4 and CP5 with doses 0,033 and 0,048g/kg body weight, respectively. The results show that using CP4 to treat pigs with respiratory syndrome give a higher cure rate (96%) than CP5 (90%) and antibiotics (92%) after 5 days of treatment.
